Belmont Stakes 2009 Results: Summer Bird Triumphs

Belmont Stakes, this year’s edition, has been considered as one of the best races in recent years and the results and payouts are final with Summer Bird coming out of nowhere to pull off the huge upset victory at 12/1 odds.

Jockey Kent Desormeaux had a perfect ride aboard the long shot underdog and if you’ve been following their articles this week you’d know how high they are at TOW on Summer Bird heading into the 141st running of this great race.

To bring the latest, TheOnlinewire.com teamed up with the mostpreferred online racebooks, Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook to bring readers the latest news and the best odds to bet on each of the three legs of the Triple Crown 2009.

Although Dunkirk (5/1 odds) and Mine That Bird (4/3 odds) made late challenges but both came up just short and after an inquiry was made, and turned down, into Dunkirk possibly bumping Charitable Man (3/1 odds) in the back stretch the results were final with Dunkirk coming in 2nd, Mine That Bird 3rd, and Charitable Man 4th.

Summer Bird came from way back to close with a fury and passed most of the race leaders en route by beating Dunkirk by 2 ¾ lengths while Mine That Bird was a solid 3rd. Many are puzzled by jockey Calvin Borel’s decision to push the Kentucky Derby winner much earlier than normal and the early move may have cost his horse a shot at the Belmont Stakes results.
Mine That Bird maybe lacked the powerful closing drive we are expected to seeing from him although the race he ran was far from poor as he had the lead coming around the final turn but just couldn’t match his half-brother Summer Bird’s incredible finish.

Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook provide horse wagering enthusiasts the highest wagering standards along with enticing promotions and sign up bonuses and financial safety.
Payouts for the 2009 Belmont Stakes trifectas paid out nicely with the big underdog taking home the top prize eventhough next few horses to finish were the race favorites heading into the June 6th race.

Belmont race caps the end of the 2009 Triple Crown racing season but there is still a lot of horse racing action to cover, so keep an eye out for future results and payouts here at TOW. Great thanks to everyone who followed along this season and we’ll see you at the track.

Who do you think will emerge as the next suceeding stakes winner?
